Here are the settings that allow the JPI EDM’s and Garmin GPS’s to exchange information.  You’ll find our settings in the Program menu of the EDM.

Set the EDM as follows:

GPS Baud Rate: 9,600

GPS Input: #3 AVIATION/BENDIX

GPS Output: #6: GNS 430/530-WP  or  #7: GNS 430/530-DST     

That works with Garmin GPS Comms settings set to:

RS-232 Input Shadin FADC     (alternative name: FADC Format 1)

RS-232 Output Aviation Data format.  (alternative name: Aviation Output 1)

Or set the EDM as follows (second option):

GPS Baud Rate: 9,600

GPS Input: #3 AVIATION/BENDIX

GPS Output: #1 Shadin

That works with the Garmin GPS Comms settings set to: 

RS-232 Input Shadin FF       (alternative name: Fuel Format 2)

RS-232 Output Aviation Data format  (alternative name: Aviation Output 1)
